Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Narek Apitonyan, met with a delegation led by US Deputy Assistant Secretary for Security Assistance Programs, Shawna Wilson.

During the meeting, the progress of projects being implemented within the framework of cooperation between Armenia and the US in the energy sector and the prospects for the development of cooperation were discussed, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia.

Also, reference was made to the plans for the construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia. In this regard, Apitonyan informed that by order of the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Garik Nalbandyan has been appointed Acting General Director of the New Nuclear Power Unit Construction CJSC, and expressed hope that this appointment will give new impetus to the process of building a new nuclear power unit in Armenia, including the work being carried out with respective US companies.
