National Assembly (NA) of Armenia inquiry committee “investigating the problems of the crisis that arose in the [Armenian Apostolic] Church as a result of the activities of a number of clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and the resulting failure to fulfill the exclusive mission of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the spiritual life of the Armenian people, the development of its national culture, and the preservation of national identity” approved its rules of procedure by voting at its meeting convened on Monday.
During the meeting, the chairman of the committee, Arman Yeghoyan, presented matters on the approval of the rules of procedure of this committee, the holding of its meetings, timeframes, and participation of invitees, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to Yeghoyan, the committee will have the right to summon state officials, specialists and experts, and the information and conclusions obtained during its closed meetings will publicized at the end of the work, in accordance with the respective law.
This committee was established at the initiative of the NA ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction at the October 6 session.
But the NA opposition “Armenia” and “Strong Armenia” Factions had announced that they will not join this committee, considering it illegal and unconstitutional.
