The Russian Embassy in Armenia has issued a sharp comment on the Shirak provincial governor Davit Arushanyan's post on social media.
"We are bewildered by the mention of some ‘Ivans’ in the post made by Shirak Province governor D.V. Arushanyan on his personal Facebook page on October 17, 2026, which inadvertently reminds of the vocabulary of German Nazis during the Great Patriotic War.
We would not like to think that an official who heads the region where the Russian 102nd Military Base and Russian border guards serve considers permissible the public expressions that could incite national hostility towards Russians, which would radically contradict the spirit of centuries-old friendship between the peoples of our countries," the Russian Embassy in Armenia said in a statement.
