The Netherlands will provide financial support to Armenia and Azerbaijan in search for missing persons [as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - ed.]. The e Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Tom Berendsen, on Tuesday stated this during a joint press conference in Yerevan with Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan.
The Dutch FM noted that the Netherlands welcomes the actions of Armenia and Azerbaijan towards normalization of their relations. Berendsen noted that he welcomes Armenia's steps towards establishing peace in the region. It is very important that this process ends with the signing of a peace treaty, he added, and pledged to provide new financial support to both countries for the search for their missing persons.
Also, the Dutch foreign policy chief welcomed the decision of the Armenian people to choose the path of peace, as well as the desire for closer cooperation with the European family.
According to Berendsen, building bridges of trust is very important in the peace process.
Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in turn, emphasized the sensitivity of this issue for both Armenia and Azerbaijan, and underscored the engagement of international partners and third parties in this process.
