A new series of possible intensive US strikes on Iran will last several days, informed diplomatic sources have said, The Washington Post reports.
At the same time, according to these diplomats, Iranian retaliation could lead to a more protracted conflict.
The sources have confirmed that Washington has already warned its Middle Eastern allies about a possible military action, which could be carried out after the US midterm elections in early November.
Also, American officials have urged allies to take precautions in anticipation of Iran’s retaliatory strikes on energy facilities and other vital infrastructure.
The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, had already reported that Washington had informed several Gulf Arab countries about preparing for short-term but intensive military operations against Iran after the midterm elections in the US Congress.
According to The Wall Street Journal's sources, the list of possible targets includes Iranian energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, as well as missile complexes and drones.
