We will be ready to present the new draft constitution in mid-November. Armenia’s justice minister, Srbuhi Galyan, told this to Factor.am.

“This will be a draft; that is, we are not presenting the final result to the public's judgment, we are presenting a draft, opening a platform for discussions. We are going to discuss the draft quite a lot and for a long [time] with all segments of [Armenia’s] society,” Galyan said.

Referring to the fact that the two parliamentary opposition forces have expressed their opposition to adopting a new constitution, she considered it illogical to be against something that you don’t know what it is yet.

“Nobody is doing anything here at [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev’s demand. Maybe they [i.e. the Armenian opposition] will give themselves the opportunity to see what is changing and why, and then make statements.

Going to snap [parliamentary] elections [in Armenia] is one of the very good options. Yes, it is not ruled out, but it has not been definitely decided, and cannot be decided, as long as the text [of the new draft constitution] has not been publicized, discussions have not taken place, the [Armenian] public has not evaluated its content.

I would like to note something with pleasure that for the first time, the [Armenian] opposition has nominated a candidate for the [Constitutional Reform] Council. I hope that the representative of [the opposition] ‘Strong Armenia’ [faction in parliament] will come and participate in the work of the Constitutional Reform Council,” added the Armenian justice minister.
