The right to deferment has been established for the entire period of study at the education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, as well as exemption from compulsory military service has been provided if a graduate of this education institution enters service in the system of the ministry after graduation.

The respective bill on amendments to the Law on Military Service and the Status of a Serviceman and related laws was approved at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

Under the current law, there is a mandatory condition for admission to the education institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, and this condition limits the possibility of receiving relevant professional education immediately after receiving general education.

Only those who have completed compulsory military service in Armenia can be admitted to such higher education institutions, except for cases provided for by law.
