Taking into account the latest regional developments, the Armenian government, at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, has established a new procedure for the import of oil products to Armenia.
The problem is that the assessment of fuel compliance with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technical regulations, from the time of application to receiving the document, usually takes two to three working days, and up to four to five days when crossing the border into Armenia on weekends or holidays. During all this time, instead of quickly emptying and returning, the tankers and containers remain standing, waiting for the necessary documents for customs clearance, which disrupts the normal operation of the logistics chain.
According to the adopted decision, vehicles transporting fuel will be allowed to cross the border into Armenia, provided that the document on compliance with the EAEU technical regulations is submitted within ten days after that.
This will enable the rapid release of vehicles without violating the customs procedures established by Armenian law.
At the same time, businesses have been allowed to unload and store fuel on their own premises without the right to sell it until the final documents are received.
