The Yerevan-Mineralnye Vody passenger plane that issued a distress signal has landed back in Yerevan.

According to SHOT, the cause is a technical malfunction

The 7700 signal, indicating an emergency on board a plane, was reported by the crew of this Azimuth airline aircraft 20 minutes after takeoff from Yerevan, when this Superjet 100 was flying over Armenia’s Tsilkar village.

Immediately after, the plane turned around and headed back to Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport.

This Superjet, which has been operating in the Azimuth fleet for about eight years, had failed to take off from Yerevan on its first attempt about a year ago as well and returned to the flight line to restart its systems.
