The US State Department is temporarily reducing the number of staff at American embassies in several Middle Eastern countries, State Department sources say, Al-Monitor reports.

Accordingly, cuts have already been made at the US embassy in Saudi Arabia, and now this process has included US embassies in Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.

The decision is due to the escalation of the situation in the region by Yemen's Houthi rebels.
