US President Donald Trump said Republicans would have defeated Democrats by a wide margin in the ongoing midterm elections if his name had been on the ballot.

"I wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In recent months, the president has repeatedly urged Republican supporters to imagine that he himself was on the ballot when they went to vote.

According to projections by US media outlets, Democrats are currently leading in the elections.

The United States is holding midterm elections to Congress. The results will determine the composition of the House of Representatives and the Senate. All 435 seats in the lower chamber and 35 of the Senate’s 100 seats are up for election.
