Armenia has approved a seven-year program for physical artificial intelligence, which combines robotics and AI. The relevant decision was adopted at a government meeting on November 5.
The program involves attracting visiting and permanent researchers, developing educational programs in cooperation with local universities, establishing state-of-the-art research laboratories, and building partnerships with industrial companies.
Over the course of the program, approximately 330 specialists are expected to be trained. Graduates and visiting experts are expected to establish at least five startups or spin-off companies, while two advanced robotics laboratories will also be set up.
The total investment in the project over seven years is estimated at approximately AMD 4.828 billion. The funds will go toward research staff, research infrastructure, laboratory equipment, educational programs, and international cooperation. The government will allocate AMD 168.4 million for the first year.
Over the seven-year implementation period, approximately 71% of the program’s budget (AMD 3.413 billion) is expected to be spent in Armenia, generating an estimated gross contribution of approximately AMD 4.44 billion to the country’s GDP.
