Special Representative: EU views South Caucasus as important corridor

YEREVAN.- EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort says the Union views South Caucasus as an important corridor.

The envoy underscored importance of such corridor in terms of transporting energy resources. He stressed that Europe’s priority is not to allow resumption of war in the region.

“New war would have become disastrous for Armenia, Azerbaijan as well as Georgia, Turkey and Russia,” Lefort said.

The Union is not standing for competition but link of civilizations, the envoy said adding that conflicts hamper consolidation.
