U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived at the far north of Norway to emphasize U.S. interest in the Arctic. She boarded a research vessel to go to the Norwegian town of Tromso in the Arctic Circle.

In Oslo Clinton said that the Arctic will become increasingly important region in terms of geopolitics, because the countries would compete for its resources, BBC reports.

Secretary of State called for cooperation of the main countries owning areas in the Arctic - Russia, Canada and Norway to ensure the development of the region not harming the environment.
