YEREVAN. – Armenia’s financial market continues to be shocked by the unpredictable leaps in the US dollar’s exchange rate against the Armenian dram (AMD).

Yet another sharp fluctuation of the exchange rate was recorded Tuesday at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange. The US currency sharply gained value by 1.3 points—or by 0.56 percent—and reached AMD 411.03/$1. This is the dollar’s highest exchange rate ever since July 28, 2006.

And the stock exchange closed the day’s session at AMD 413/$1.

But considering the volume of trading, the Central Bank did not intervene in the exchange rate.

The total sales were $1.65 million.

Armenia’s banks are undecided on setting the cash foreign currency exchange rates. As case in point, two banks were buying the dollar at AMD 412/$1, whereas another bank was selling it at AMD 411/$1.
