YEREVAN. – The name of the person who will represent Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2012 Song Contest will become apparent by October 15, head of the Armenian delegation to the Eurovision Gohar Gasparyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

“If there is enough number of good songs, there will be a second round [, too]. Everything depends on the [number of] applications,” said Gasparyan and added:  

“It is mandatory in Junior Eurovision that a preliminary round is held so the people could make a choice.” 

And with respect to the media information that Armenia’s Police Chief’s daughter also wishes to participate in Junior Eurovision, Gohar Gasparyan noted that the applications are still being submitted and once the deadline for submissions ends, they will announce the names of the entrants.

To note, the acceptance of applications, to represent Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2012 Song Contest, has begun, the Armenian delegation to Eurovision earlier informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

The applications will be accepted till August 20.

According to the rules, children between the ages of 10 and 15 and who are citizens of Armenia, or have lived in the country for at least 2.5 years, can participate in the Contest.

And the candidate songs must be 2:30-2:45 minutes and in Armenian; but up to 25 percent of the song texts could be in foreign languages. 

To note, Junior Eurovision 2011 Song Contest was held in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, and the winner was the group “Candy,” from Georgia, one of whose members was an Armenian girl by the name of Anna Khanchalyan.  

Junior Eurovision 2012 Song Contest will be held on December 1 in the Netherlands.  

Also, Armenia’s Police Chief Vladimir (Vova) Gasparyan’s singer daughter Angelina Gasparyan’s producer Armen Gevorgyan on Thursday confirmed that they are considering submitting an application for Angelina’s participation in Junior Eurovision 2012 Song Contest, Haykakan Zhamanak daily wrote.     

“The girl already turned ten years old and, according to the Contest rules, she is eligible to partake in Eurovision.

Incidentally, as soon as Vova Gasparyan was appointed Police Chief, one of his first actions was designating his daughter’s producer as Armenian Police Cultural Center director,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
