YEREVAN. – The OSCE Secretary General, Lamberto Zannier expects Armenia will improve election process.

During the Thursday press conference in Yerevan, Zannier welcomed the peaceful conduct of the parliamentary elections of 6 May. He also emphasized the importance of addressing in a timely manner the shortcomings identified by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights’ Election Observation Mission, ahead of next year’s presidential elections, in order to “help enhance general confidence in the process”.

As reported earlier, five parties and one bloc entered the Armenian parliament after the May elections.

OSCE/ODIHR observation mission gave positive assessment of the elections noting a number of shortcomings.
