YEREVAN.- ARF Dashnaktsutyun said it considers a priority to chose a single presidential candidate from the opposition based on its principles, as one political force is not capable of making crucial changes in the country.

“We are speaking about necessity to be consolidated on forming a single opposition candidate. If we give up the idea, all speculations about a single candidate will be senseless and each political force will act by its own,” ARFD member Artsvik Minasyan told reporters on Thursday.

ARFD has two ideas: firstly, the presidential candidate must take on commitment to shift to the parliamentary government with bringing forth constitutional amendments, and secondly, provide the opposition with power to control the government in such structures as Control Chamber.

If a candidate is chosen based on these principles, ARFD will make a relevant statement, he added.
