YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov on Thursday received Chinese Ambassador Tian Changchun.

They pointed to Armenia’s and China’s great potential to strengthen bilateral ties and further develop the success in humanitarian domains and interstate relations, NA press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.     

The Chinese Ambassador stated that effective operation of the Armenian-Chinese chloroprene rubber production joint enterprise—which is one of the largest projects of bilateral economic cooperation—could serve as a good example, and the close ties established between the capital cities of the two countries could open wonderful prospects for interregional development.           

The interlocutors also reflected on Armenia’s official policy conducted with reference to settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, the Chinese Ambassador highly assessed Armenia’s determination to resolve the matter by way of peace talks which, as per the diplomat, is the sole acceptable choice. 

Eduard Sharmazanov likewise underscored the need to develop cooperation and enhance interparliamentary ties between Armenia and China, and appreciated the Chinese authorities’ balanced policy in settlement of the Karabakh conflict.    

In addition, NA Deputy Speaker highlighted that both countries’ cooperation and the prospects for economic development are also conditioned on the authorities’ position and their persistence to materialize it.
