YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Thursday received Council of Europe’s (CoE) newly-elect Deputy Secretary General and CoE Director General for Projects, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni.

Nalbandian congratulated Battaini-Dragoni for being elected CoE Deputy Secretary General and expressed a hope that Battaini-Dragoni will contribute to raising the effectiveness of the Council’s Secretariat, MFA press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

The interlocutors exchanged views on Armenia’s ongoing democratic reforms. In this connection, CoE Deputy Secretary General stressed that a considerable progress is registered in Armenia in the recent years and the Council of Europe will continue to assist in this process.   

Edward Nalbandian and Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni also reflected on several matters with respect to Armenia’s assuming CoE Chairmanship in 2013 and discussed the Armenia-CoE 2012-2014 Action Plan. 

Separately, the inaugural conference devoted to launching of the Armenia-CoE 2012-2014 Action Plan was convened on the same day, and Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian delivered opening remarks at the event.
