YEREVAN. – The four non-coalition groups of the Armenian Parliament were not able to collect enough signatures in order to convene an extraordinary parliament session. Opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) collected only 21 out of the needed 44 signatures partly because most of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) members are not in the country.

The parliamentary groups of ANC, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyan (ARFD), Heritage and several members of PAP joined the initiative.

The signatures were collected on Friday. At noon the initiative ‘We want all responsible people for Harsnakar incident to be punished’ conducted an action demanding to convene an extraordinary parliament session.

Those, who will not sign under the statement will contribute that such things continue to happen in Armenia, the demonstrators announced.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported, the Parliamentary group of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) took a form from Armenian Parliament Speaker at 5.55 p.m. on Thursday for inviting an extraordinary parliament seating.

Earlier Armenian News-NEWS.am had informed that an incident had occurred at Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Harsnaqar restaurant on June 17, where several military doctors including Edgar Mikoyan, Arkadi Aghajanyan, Garik Soghomonyan, Artak Bayadyan and Vahe Avetyan were brutally beaten by the security personnel. Vahe Avetyan died in hospital on June 29. A criminal case is launched and the Police have detained six people.

The restaurant’s owner is a businessman Ruben Hayrapetyan, who is an influential figure, ruling Republican Party of Armenia former MP, who resigned after the scandal, but remained president of Football Federation of Armenia.
