Members from the Youth Organization of the Union of Armenians of Russia established a headquarters to provide humanitarian assistance to survivors of the flood that ravaged the Krasnodar Krai’s (federal subject) Krymsk city.   

Head of the Union’s Krasnodar Youth Chapter, Hrach Ter-Karapetyan, told that a consultation was held immediately after hearing the news of the flood and, as a result, it was decided to send necessary relief to the disaster zone, the Union’s press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

And the first two relief vehicles headed to Krymsk on the second day of the tragedy. The Union’s other youth organizations likewise joined this initiative and, one week later, the Union of Armenians of Russia headquarters opened in Krymsk, where the humanitarian aid gathered by the Union members from throughout Russia were sent.       

“The victims receive aid there, [and] irrespective of nationality. Krymsk is our shared tragedy. The Union of Armenians of Russia headquarters will continue its work as long as its need is felt,” noted Hrach Ter-Karapetyan.  

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the July 7 floods inundated close to 5,000 homes in the aforesaid Krai’s three cities—Gelendzhik, Krymsk, and Novorossiysk—and several villages. And there were Armenians among the flood fatalities.
