YEREVAN. - In the first half of 2012, 7,560 crimes have been recorded in Armenia, which is 10.7% less than the same period of the previous year. These figures have been reported during the meeting of Armenian Police Collegium on Friday which was attended by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

In addition, murder bids (20-17) and causing grievous harm to health (92-82) have decreased. The murder rate has not changed (28-28) while cases of bodily injuries (629 - 690), violence against sexual integrity (42 -58), including rape and attempted rape have increased.

During the period under review, 571 illegal drug-trafficking cases have been registered against 868 in 2011. In addition, video cameras and speedometers have been installed on various intersections and streets of capital city Yerevan. Over the first six months 1,066 accidents occurred in Armenia’s roads with 118 dead and 1556 injured. Meanwhile, cases of pedestrian-involved accidents have increased significantly.
