STEPANAKERT.- Nagorno-Karabakh’s Central Electoral Commission said Bako Sahakyan had been elected President of the Republic.

During the meeting the Commission stated the voter turnout in Karabakh presidential election reached 99,227.

Bako Sahakyan polled 47,095 votes, Vitaly Balasanyan – 22,967, while Arkady Soghomonyan – only 593.

Chairman of the Commission expressed gratitude to the commission members, local and foreign observers, NGOs, journalists, employees of foreign office, police, national security service, and others for their support.

He thanked NKR citizens for active participation in the election which reiterated their adherence to the Karabakh statehood and democracy development.

The fifth presidential elections in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) were held on July 19.
