BUENOS AYRES. – The visit of the Secretary of Domestic Trade of Argentina Guillermo Moreno to deepen trade relations with exotic states will be quite expensive for the local government. A new diplomatic conflict is to burst out between Argentina and Armenia due to the upcoming visit of the Azerbaijani FM to Buenos Aires, La Nacion reports.

Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov’s visit scheduled for Thursday is a commercial mission. However, the official visit of the Azerbaijani high ranking official, as well as the preceded visit of the Argentinian official concerned the Armenian community in Argentina and the Armenian government due to the tense relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

At the same time, when the Argentinian MFA released the official statement on Mammadyarov’s visit to Argentina, Armenian Ambassador to that state Vahagn Melikyan visited the MFA to demand from the Argentinian authorities for ‘egalitarian and reciprocal relationships’ towards Armenia. The Armenian Ambassador reminded at the MFA about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Heads of the Armenian center in Argentina also were concerned about the Azerbaijani FM’s visit and hinted that the visit may impact on Argentina’s position over Karabakh. At the same time, the Armenian community stated ‘necessity to stabilize position’ in diplomatic relations.
