ALEPPO. – After fierce fighting for several days in the Syrian city Aleppo, the situation has stabilized to some extent, representative of local Armenian community Zhirayr Reisian told Armenian News-NEWS.am adding shots are heard from time to time.

Fierce clashes continue in Aleppo for several days. Both sides suffered losses. At the same time servicemen died not as a result of open fights but acts of sabotage, he said.

“Armenians do not mainly live in these parts. As a whole, the Armenian community has not supported anyone. At the same time, neither opposition not authorities made targeted shots at the Armenians,” Reisian said adding clashes claimed several Armenian servicemen’s lives serving in the Syrian army.

Regarding the Armenian districts, no serious clashes have taken place there yet, however, shots were heard.

“Armenians are neutral. We stand for peace in Syria,” he resumed.
