YEREVAN.- The reason for controversy between Heritage and Prosperous Armenia is Hertiage’s decision not to participate in the work of the single headquarters set to hold monitoring of the parliamentary elections.

Stepan Safaryan, former MP and member of Heritage Party, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that tension between the political forces was to appear sooner of later.

Asked whether two political forces are likely to cooperate in the future, Safaryan said this depends on the position of Prosperous Armenia.

“As to presidential elections and speculations about a single opposition candidate, it would hardly be possible. There would hardly be a candidate supported both by Heritage and Prosperous Armenia,” he added.

Safaryan is confident that Prosperous Armenia cannot be labeled as “opposition force”. According to him, during the election campaign Prosperous Armenia focused on criticism against the government, not ruling regime.

“They never said change of power is needed, claiming the government in on the wrong track. In contrast, Heritage stands for deep-rooted, radical and system changes in the country,” he emphasized.
