DAMASCUS. – There were no serious clashes between the opposition and the authority forces both in Damascus and Aleppo, representative of the Armenian community in Syria, Damascus resident Nazaret Elmadjian told Armenian News-NEWS.am over the phone.

“There was a small flame of confrontation in the capital city on Tuesday. However, the local fights were exclusively between the opposition and authorities, and no one troubled the local residents, including the Armenians,” he said.

As for Aleppo, the city faces separate shoots from time to time, which are again targeted either on the opposition or the authority forces. As a whole, the situation in Syria continues to be shaky. At the end the interlocutor emphasized that the Armenian community in Syria is still in relative security.
