YEREVAN.- Syrian-Armenians have no intention to become permanent residents of Armenia, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan told reporters on Thursday.
Only thirty families have applied for getting refugee status so far. About 800 families bought apartments in Armenia during the previous years and want to settle down here. The government will provide assistance so that 300-400 Syrian-Armenian children can spend vacations in Armenia’s resorts.
The Minster said most Syrian-Armenians plan to return to Syria after the situation is stabilized. She dismissed reports saying Armenia’s Embassy will be taken out of Syria.
During the Thursday session, the government decided to provide an opportunity to hold a swearing-in ceremony for receiving Armenian passport in the diplomatic representation.
