Iran said interference of certain states brought to Kofi Annan’s peace plan on Syria to failure.

Official representative of the Iranian MFA Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday that certain states were not satisfied with Annan’s efforts to stop weapon supplies to Syria, IRNA agency reports.

They did not help Annan implement his six-point peace plan, Mehmanparast noted, adding that whenever the plan was about to succeed, terrorist operations inside the Syrian territory were increased, the agency quotes Mehmanparast.

Earlier media reported that Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar were supplying weapons to the Syrian opposition.

On Wednesday it became clear that Kofi Annan would not extend his mandate as UN special envoy.
