YEREVAN.- It was a wise move not to nominate a Republican candidate for the post of Gyumri Mayor, party member said.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, MP from Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Khosrov Harutunyan labeled his party’s decision as “wise and reasonable.”
He recalled the Republican Party lost the parliamentary elections in Gyumri.
“Therefore, it was reasonable not to nominate anyone there,” he added. Harutyunayan believes the incumbent Mayor, RPA member Vardan Ghukasyan has exhausted his potential.
It is supposed that Republicans will support the candidate of Prosperous Armenia Party Samvel Balasanyan.
Khosrov Harutunyan called it “a real opportunity to build a bridge of cooperation with Prosperous Armenia.”
