YEREVAN. – Democratic Party of Armenia Chairman Aram Sargsyan will not run in the presidential elections slated for February 2013. At the same time, however, he did not rule out a variety of developments if the incumbent authorities do not take any socioeconomic steps.   

“No other political force obstructed them from implementing them in the past 4.5 years,” said Sargsyan. 

The politician added that it is virtually impossible to expect any real changes from the local government elections to be held in September.  

“I see no great difference here,” noted Sargsyan, and added that hopes should not be attached also on the oppositional image of the Prosperous Armenia Party. 

Democratic Party’s chairman also noted that he does not consider the parliamentary opposition bloc Armenian National Congress to be an alternative government.   

“How can we speak about an alternative government when someone always leaves their ranks?”, Aram Sargsyan concluded.
