YEREVAN. – Turkey and Azerbaijan are the very obstacles standing before the development of South Caucasus, Armenia’s National Assembly Deputy Speaker and ruling Republican Party’s Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov said, commenting on Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu’s statement made in Bishkek.

To note, reflecting on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict’s settlement process, Davutoglu had criticized Armenia, and noted that Armenia must ends its “occupation” of the twenty percent of Azerbaijan’s territory because this “occupation” is a great obstacle standing before the development of South Caucasus.

“Some representatives of Turkey’s political elite are regularly guided by the [Nazi Germany’s Propaganda Minister Joseph] Goebbels propaganda principle. That is, if you say and repeat a huge lie, people will believe it,” Sharmazanov responded, and added:

Turkey and Azerbaijan are the very obstacles standing before the development of South Caucasus. The first [country] blockades Armenia for around twenty years, conducts a denialist policy, and declines from the international commitments it has assumed. And the second [country] disregards the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries’ efforts toward Karabakh peace talks, and continues to occupy some [Nagorno-Karabakh Republic] NKR territories.”
