YEREVAN. – Just like the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Kazakhstan, trade and economic ties likewise could have been better, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Armenia Ayimdoz Bozzhigitov stated during Monday’s news conference devoted to the 20th anniversary of Armenian-Kazakh diplomatic relations (PHOTOS).  

The Ambassador informed that 23 enterprises with Kazakh funds operate in Armenia and 60 enterprises with Armenian investment function in Kazakhstan.

“Armenia imports grain and medal from Kazakhstan, whereas Armenia exports alcoholic beverages—primarily brandy—as well as stone-processing benches to Kazakhstan,” the diplomat noted.

Responding to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s question with reference to the volume of goods turnover between both countries, the Ambassador stressed that the respective indicators dropped in the most recent years, and added: “The reason for a lower indicator is the absence of immediate borders between the countries.”

But Ayimdoz Bozzhigitov also informed that the governments of Armenia and Kazakhstan are designing projects for cooperation in the Information Technology sector.
