The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will strengthen its military component. It is envisioned to reach a decision in this regard during the CSTO Collective Security Council Session slated for December, CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha told news reporters following Tuesday’s consultation in Moscow with heads of the armed forces general staffs of CSTO-member countries.   

In the words of Nikolai Makarov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, the consultation’s participants discussed the CSTO military component’s structural change and partial reorganization. They also examined the strengthening of joint CSTO forces, BELTA reports. 

In addition, attendees discussed the preparations for the peacekeeping Undisrupted Brotherhood military exercises to be held in Kazakhstan in October.   

The consultation brought together the representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Armenia was represented at the session by Yury Khachaturov, Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
