A hit-and-run occurred Tuesday in Armenia’s Tavush Region.

Driving a Ford Transit, Armavir city resident Ashot Safaryan, 30, went off road on the Vanadzor city-Georgia Highway, and crashed into the open door of a parked VAZ 2106 belonging to Sargis Avagyan, 63—a resident of Archis village of Tavush Region—, and, as a result, he hit Archis village resident Meline Avagyan, 57, who was selling fruit, Armenian News-NEWS.am’s reporter from Tavush informed.      

Subsequently, the driver slammed into a column, left the injured women unattended, and left. 

Meline Avagyan was transferred to hospital and diagnosed with traumatic amputation of both legs, but she died on the evening. 

The Police Investigation Department has launched a criminal lawsuit on charges of violating traffic and vehicle operation rules, causing death, and leaving the traffic accident site.
