YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian on Tuesday met with Argentinean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Héctor Marcos Timerman, who is in Yerevan on an official visit. 

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Armenian-Argentinean diplomatic ties, and we have had very intensive contacts with Argentina over these years. We underscore the development of Armenian-Argentinean interaction. Argentina is one of the largest investors in Armenia’s economy,” Nalbandian said, MFA press service informs.   

In his turn, Minister Timerman noted that his country wishes to deepen the cooperation with Armenia and to raise the level of interstate collaboration. 

The ministers highlighted the role of the Argentinean-Armenian community in terms of bettering bilateral relations.

Also, the FMs of Armenia and Argentina reflected on a variety of matters concerning the development of bilateral interaction.

Héctor Timerman briefed Edward Nalbandian on Argentina’s main foreign policy directions, whereas Nalbandian presented the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. Both ministers shared the view that the key issues need to be resolved solely by pacific methods and based on the precepts of international law.   

After the meeting, the ministers signed an agreement on cooperation between Armenia’s Sport and Youth Affairs Ministry and Argentina’s Secretariat of Sports. 

Subsequently, Edward Nalbandian and Héctor Marcos Timerman held a joint news conference.
