YEREVAN. – Ramil Safarov’s being granted pardon is nothing but the proof of the fact that Azerbaijan does not care about the OSCE Minsk Group and the international community alike, and this will be announced during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) fall session.

According to National Assembly’s Prosperous Armenia Party Faction Secretary and Armenia’s PACE delegation member Naira Zohrabyan, this is proved by the fact that the murderer was welcomed at the airport by members of the Azerbaijani delegations to PACE and Euronest.  

“With that, the Azerbaijani side proved that the international community’s view is not worth even a penny for it,” Zohrabyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, and noted that she will make an announcement in this regard, irrespective of the measures the Azerbaijani delegation will take.

To note, PACE’s fall session will get underway in Strasbourg, France, on October 1.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier that Ramil Safarov, a lieutenant in the Azerbaijani military, was extradited on August 31 from Hungary, where he was serving a life sentence—and with no expression of either regret or remorse—for the premeditated axe murder of Armenian lieutenant Gurgen Margaryan, in his sleep, during a NATO Partnership for Peace program in Budapest back in 2004.

As expected, Ramil Safarov’s return to Baku was welcomed, as was his act of murder, by the officials of president Ilham Aliyev’s government and much of Azerbaijani society, and the Azerbaijani president immediately granted him a pardon.

And Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan announced on August 31 that Armenia is suspending its diplomatic ties with Hungary.
