STRASBOURG. – The issue of Azerbaijani murderer Ramil Safarov’s extradition and release may be included in the European Parliament (EP) session agenda, which will be open next week in Strasbourg, EP Member Charles Tannock told Radio Liberty adding he was shocked and horrified by what had happened on Aug. 31.

He believes that it was absolutely a shameful and sad day for justice in Azerbaijan and Hungary. Safarov must be sentenced for life in jail and when the Hungarian authorities extradited him, they should have known that Azerbaijan is very likely to grant a pardon to him.

Besides, relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan were tense before and it was a very harmful and provocative step by Azerbaijan. The European MP stated that if it is confirmed that Hungary agreed to this step for some financial assistance, than it is a shame indeed.
