YEREVAN. – The “Small Singers of Armenia” Children’s Choir, which is conducted by Tigran Hekekyan, recently wrapped up its forty-day concert tour in eighteen Japanese cities and returned to Armenia.   

The tour was devoted to the 20th anniversary of Armenian-Japanese diplomatic ties, 500th anniversary of the Armenian printed books, and Armenian capital city Yerevan being declared World Book Capital for 2012.  

The reputation of the Choir, which in 2002 the European Choral Association had declared “World’s Best Choir” and “Ambassador of European Culture,” had reached Japan a long time ago. And all concert tickets in the Japanese cities were sold out even before Hekekyan and pupils had arrived there.   

Some Japanese were purchasing train and even airplane tickets to go to another city just to attend the “Small Singers of Armenia” concert.
