YEREVAN. – A festive reception was held Monday, in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, in connection with the Independence Day of Ukraine.

Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian likewise was on hand at the event.

“An historic document was adopted for Ukraine 21 years ago, and the country adopted the path to democratic development,” Ukrainian Ambassador Ivan Kukhta stated during the reception.

He also noted that he “records with delight the enhancement of bilateral ties with Armenia in the recent years.”

“We are proud that a large Armenian community—approximately 400 thousand—lives in Ukraine. There is a Ukrainian community in Armenia, too. Both communities have a considerable contribution to developing relations,” Ambassador Kukhta said, and he raised a toast to Ukraine’s independence and strengthening of Armenian-Ukrainian ties.
