YEREVAN.-  The local self-government elections in Armenia will follow the lead of “vicious parliamentary elections”, MP from ARF Dashnaktsutyun said.

Armen Rustamyan said democracy is abused in Armenia. The citizens are deprived of the right to vote due to use of administrative resources by officials. Elections in Talin, Akhtala, Sisian, Kapan and Gyumri are the evidence thereof, he added. The MP stressed in many cases election bribes were distributed.

“In other states local self-government elections are the basis of democracy, but not in Armenia. Such voting can hardly be called elections,” he emphasized.

As to low voter turnout, Rustamyan said it proved people are disappointed in the government.
