YEREVAN. – Upon the instruction by President Serzh Sargsyan, Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader, Armenian National Olympic Committee Chairman, National Security Council member, and MP Gagik Tsarukyan left on an assignment, but it is not clear why and where, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.   

“The public learned about this yesterday [Wednesday] from the [press] release issued with respect to the Security Council [SC] session which Sargsyan convened. All SC members except for the two Gagiks, [namely, National Assembly] NA PAP Faction leader Tsarukyan and [Constitutional Court] CC President Harutyunyan, attended the session.    

At the beginning of the session Sargsyan said: ‘I also wish to note that those SC members who are absent from today’s session are on assignment. I’m saying this so that excessive speculations would not be made as of tomorrow, or starting from this evening.’ 

Yesterday PAP Press Secretary Tigran Urikhanyan did not respond to our correspondent’s query as to where his leader has left and for what purpose. [And] Serzh Sargsyan seems to be the most informed [person] as to Tsarukyan’s whereabouts,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
