STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President Bako Sahakyan on Sunday received Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands and European Northern Observatory Professor Gagik Israelyan as well as renowned astronauts Charles Duke (USA) and Claude Nicollier (Switzerland), who participated in a symposium entitled “Man and Space,” which was convened in NKR.

President Sahakyan expressed his gratitude to the famous scientists and astronauts for coming to NKR and participating in such important event, which will greatly contribute to the development of science in the country.

In their turn, the guests expressed a satisfaction that the first conference held in memory of the world-renowned astronaut Neil Armstrong was held in NKR.

The interlocutors also discussed the development of exact sciences and organizing of a variety of international scientific events in NKR.

NKR Acting Minister of Education and Science Vladik Khachatryan and other officials likewise attended the meeting.
