YEREVAN. – Armenian-British relations are on solid basis at the moment, the Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian said at a joint press conference with UK Minister of State for Europe David Lidington on Tuesday.  Nalbandian stated that the visit by his UK counterpart in Armenia is a good opportunity for discussing bilateral regional and international issues of mutual interest. He also added that Armenia celebrated the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with the UK, which claims that relations between the two states are on solid basis. Armenian FM also emphasized that they discussed Armenia-EU relations as an important issue. The sides in details touched upon the recent negotiation process within the Eastern Partnership. Besides, Nalbandian presented the UK high ranking official with the events around Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.  “We also touched upon release of [Azeri murderer] Safarov and the huge damage following it on the Karabakh negotiation process and security and stability in the region as a whole,” Nalbandian concluded. In his turn Lidington stated that UK considers Armenia a valuable partner. The development of Armenia-UK relations will make bilateral relations stronger. The UK is impressed with Armenia’s progress achieved in building stronger ties with both EU and NATO. He also added that talks on establishing deep and free trade zone are welcomed by the UK.
