YEREVAN. – No country alone can safeguard its security and it must have allies, Nagorno-Karabakh war hero, Major General Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan stated during a press conference on Thursday. 

In his words, Armenia’s ally is Russia, but there are no commitments which will clarify the course of action to be taken if, for example, an aggression is carried out against Armenia.  

Ter-Tadevosyan noted that CSTO’s military exercises, which wrapped up Wednesday in Armenia, showed that the aforementioned case practically exists already.

“Furthermore, it is already clear—along the lines of CSTO—that one [CSTO-member] country must help another [member state] in difficult times,” he stressed. 

Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan also noted that, in reality, however, solely Russia and Belarus can help Armenia.

“It’s true that Kazakhstan has issues with Azerbaijan, but this doesn’t mean it will use its entire potential against Azerbaijan. Kyrgyzstan likewise will hardly input its whole potential,” he added.
