ANKARA. – The Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan canceled his visit to the U.S. where he had to participate in the General Assembly of the UN scheduled for the end of September.

The reason is the upcoming annual meeting of the ruling party, scheduled for Sept. 30, as well as full working schedule, Reuters informs quoting the governmental source.

It was earlier informed that Turkey’s incumbent President Abdullah Gul canceled his visit to the U.S. due to an ear infection, while Erdogan was to replace him and deliver a speech in New York.

The Assembly is going to discuss the crisis in Syria, which has common border with Turkey, Gazeta.ru reports.
