BEIRUT. – Eight people were killed and other 78 injured in a Beirut blast. Armenians may be among the affected, Editor-in-Chief of Lebanon’s Aztag Armenian daily Shahan Kandaharian told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

He said the blast occurred in a district mainly populated by Christians.

“The number of the killed and injured is increasing every minute. There have been no official reports on the nationality of the killed people. The district is mainly populated by Christians, including Armenians,” Kandaharian said.

None of terrorist groups has claimed responsibility for the blast. Kandaharian said it is the first major terrorist attack after long relative truce.

A blast struck Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, on Friday. The eyewitnesses said the district is covered by black smoke.
