YEREVAN. – An international jewelry exhibition kicked off Monday in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan (PHOTOS). President Serzh Sargsyan also attended the event’s official opening.

The exhibition is organized by the Armenian Jewelers’ Association (AJA), and its opening coincides with the Armenian Jeweler’s National Day (October 28) and the fifteenth anniversary of AJA.   

Over sixty jewelers from a variety of countries—including the host, Armenia, and Turkey as well—are participating in the event.  

As per AJA Chairman Gagik Gevorgyan, jewelry has a great potential for development in Armenia and new jobs are expected to be created in the country by next year. In his words, the Armenian jewelers have a high level of skill. “Many [of them] wish to open up a business in Armenia, but there must be conditions for this,” Gevorgyan told news reporters during a briefing. Specifically, he underscored the creation of a free economic zone and of building conditions.
