Use of state-of-the-art information technologies in education is of great significance, Quantum college director Robert Vardanyan told NEWS.am-Innovation, underlining that adoption of such technologies enables to increase educational efficiency.

“In this respect Armenia fell behind other states, however recently we tried to overtake arrears. Presently, majority of schools have PCs with Internet connection that allows solving crucial problems, particularly related to communication establishment between teachers and schoolchildren, as well as their parents. ‘Schools should have own websites to post study materials,” Vardanyan said.

According to him, their college posts useful information for schoolchildren and their parents on their website, keeping them in picture of college news. “Teachers can communicate with pupils being off sick or other reasons on the net and they can participate in classes virtually,” Vardanyan stated.

College also uses up-to-date software programs for better embracement of learning materials beyond educational package. “Our experts worked out virtual labs on physics and math, plus electronic manuals for English and Russian spread currently in local schools,” director outlined, adding that he is unaware of its efficiency in other schools.

Vardanyan considers lack of teachers’ computer skills one of key reasons for improper use of information technologies in schools. “Teachers undergo computer training, but some are simply reluctant to give up conventional teaching methods,” the director concluded.
